Alicudi and Filicudi

The most closed islands of the archipelago, Alicudi and Filicudi are characterized by craters of extinct volcanoes, with fabulous wild environments and lush underwater depths.

In Filicudi you can admire: the Faraglione La Canna (about 85 meters high), Lo Scoglio della Fortuna and the spectacular Grotta del Bue.

The silent Alicudi (the circulation of cars is forbidden), is the most "wild" island and there are discovered incredible scenarios of Mediterranean imprint, such as the Scoglio della Galera.

The second island by extension and with the highest reliefs of the archipelago are a beautiful forest of ferns, a sheer drop on splendid beaches like that of Pollara.

Salina is also famous for being set in the film "Il Postino" by Massimo Troisi and for the renowned local granita.

Stromboli is home to the most active of the European Vulcans, with spectacular and frequent eruptions that can also be seen from the Navy Observatory, in Punta Labronzo. With a bit of luck you can watch the Sciara del Fuoco: the lava flow that descends to the sea. To visit are the village of San Vincenzo where the boats wander, with its characteristic white houses; the hamlet of Ginostra perched on the rock and reachable only by a mule track; the Strombolicchio rock, surmounted by a large lighthouse and born from one of the oldest volcanic eruptions of the Aeolian islands.

It is the smallest and least elevated island of the Aeolian Islands (421 meters higher, the Timpone del Corvo), but the oldest of all the attractions and attractions for pristine women, underwater eruptive phenomena and night life. The island forms a tiny archipelago together with the islets of Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo, Bottaro, Lisca Nera, the rocks of Panarelli and Formiche. The tourist port is in the district of San Pietro, with appropriate features, shops and stores.

It is the largest island: its municipality gathers all the islands except that of Salina.

Interesting the Archaeological Museum, located in the Castle of Lipari, which rises in an entire bay on the east coast, between the inlets of Marina Lunga, and Marina Corta, still today it seems to me of landing places. The Greek acropolis and the Cathedral of Norman origin are also splendid. Do not miss a boat ride to admire splendid coves, such as the Fico, and the beaches of Vinci, Valle Muria, Punta della Castagna and Capo Rosso.

According to Greek mythology, the lies of Hephaestus, god of fire and blacksmith, were found in Vulcan.

On the island we can observe phenomena of volcanic origin: fumaroles, jets of steam are on the crest that submarines, and sulphurous muds with appreciated therapeutic properties.
